Potley Hill Primary School takes the subject of child protection very seriously and has stringent systems and procedures that safeguard our children. The Headteacher is the Designated Safeguarding Officer (DSL) and the Deputy Head and Senior Admin Officer are both Deputy DLS. All staff are regularly trained and our two main policies, "Safeguarding Policy” and “Child Protection Policy" are reviewed and updated on an annual basis with staff and Governors. All staff have undergone DBS checks and all volunteers and outside agencies have to have a current DBS check before being able to work within the school.
All visitors are requested to report to Reception, where our friendly and resourceful office staff are on hand to help.
Potley Hill caters for children from Reception (age 4 to 5) to Year 6 (age 11) in eleven single and mixed year group classes. Each classroom has an interactive whiteboard and access to at least two computers, plus attractive displays of the children's work.
We have a well-equipped ICT suite, libraries for infants and juniors and a music room.
In our purpose-built Food Technology Room children from Reception to Year 6 learn about food hygiene and health and safety in the kitchen as well as producing some delicious food!
Two inner courtyards provide a safe play area for infants and a performance area for juniors with a small stage and bench seating.
Our playground includes two covered quiet areas which provide shade or shelter, depending on the weather! The back of the ball wall is decorated with paintings.
